En la primera lección vamos a ver cómo saludamos de una forma informal y más o menos rápida en español...

Y compararlos: a ver si significan lo mismo, ¡o no!
La forma más básica en español de preguntar sería: ¿Qué tal?
and in English: what's up?
Si yo le preguntase, en inglés, ¿qué tal, Yinka?
I would say "I'm fine", "I'm good, thanks". But also you can take it in the literal sense, make a kind of a joke. You can say: clouds, aeroplanes, the sky, God... but I never say this.

- ¡Bien!, muy bien, genial, ¿y tú?
- Good, thanks
En español también podemos decir "tirando". Esto lo dicen mucho las personas mayores. "Las personas mayores" es una forma educada de decir la gente a partir de 70 años, gente bastante mayor, y lo dicen mucho. Imaginaos: empujar – tirar. Pues es como que están tirando
de su cuerpo, de su peso. Es como una queja, pero sin hacerla explícita.

- Tirando
Ok, so there are other ways of saying hello or greeting someone in English, for example: how's it going?, how are you doing?, how are you? Hey! Hi!, Are you all right?
Y en español, pues también: ¿Qué tal?, ¿cómo estás? -puede ser informal
depende del tono-, ¿Cómo te va?, ¡y no ¿Cómo te VAS?! O también una muy curiosa: ¿qué hay?
In English I wouldn't respond to this because in English we wouldn't say
"qué hay", we wouldn't say *what is there?* We would say...other stuff. So this is literally translated in English so well
- ¿Qué me cuentas?
- Nothing, nothing much
- Nada, ¿y tú qué tal?

O también decimos en español el "Hey" pero lo decimos más "¡Ey!", sin la hache.

O también decimos: ¡Buenas! Sabéis que decimos mucho buenos días, buenas tardes, buenas noches… Pues simplemente, ¡buenas! ¿Qué tal?
Which is basically “Hi!”, so the shortest form to say hello and greet someone.
¡Hasta la próxima!, hasta luego, hasta pronto.
